Lindon City is offering free training to be part of the local Community Emergency Response Team - CERT. Some basic equipment is required. It can be procured on your own or purchased through the city.
- Educates about local hazards
- Trains in basic disaster response skills, like —
- Fire extinguisher use
- Utilities shut-off
- Search and rescue, carries, & cribbing
- Team organization & call-out
- Disaster medical operations
- Life-saving rapid assessment and first-aid
- Debris removal
Using what they've learned during training and exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.
