2017 LINDON CITY NOTICE OF MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS

NOTICE OF MUNICIPAL OFFICES TO BE VOTED ON IN THE LINDON CITY MUNICIPAL GENERAL ELECTION

Lindon City will conduct a non-partisan Municipal General Election on November 7, 2017 to elect the following positions:

  •        One (1) Mayoral seat to serve a four-year term of office.
  •        Two(2) City Council seats to serve four-year terms of office.
  •        One (1) City Council seat to serve a remaining two-year term of office.

If the number of candidates for a particular office exceeds twice the number of persons needed to fill the office, a primary election will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 to nominate candidates for the General Election.

Qualified residents of Lindon may become a candidate for office by filing in person a “Declaration of Candidacy” in the office of the City Recorder located at 100 North State Street, Lindon, Utah, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Candidate filing period begins Thursday, June 1, 2017 and ends Wednesday, June 7, 2017. No applications can be received after 5:00 p.m. on June 7, 2017.

ualifications to become a candidate are:

  •     Be a United States Citizen at the time of filing;
  •     Be a registered voteof thmunicipality;
  •     Be a resident of the municipalitfor a period of 365 consecutivdays immediately preceding the date of the election;
  •     Not be a convicted felon;

Considering Running for Office?

In the upcoming 2017 municipal election Lindon City residents will be voting on four seats (1 Mayoral and 3 City Councilmember seats). Local elections are very important and city council members have the power to make a real difference in our community and the results of local elections impact our daily lives in very real ways. Lindon City needs dedicated and committed residents who are willing to lead and serve!

Requirements for running for city office:
1. Must be 18 years old or older
2. Must be registered as a Lindon voter
3. Must have lived in Lindon for 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the election
4. Any mentally incompetent person, any person convicted of a felony, or any person convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise may not hold office in this state until the right to vote or hold elective office is restored as provided by statute (see sections 20A•2•101.3 or 20A•2•101.5)

2017 Election Dates
Filing Period:  Regular business hours, June 1 through June 7th at 5pm.
Primary Election (if needed):  August 15th
General Election:  November 7th
