Stalking Injunctions
Stalking Injunctions are issued by the court designed to provide protection to victims of stalking by preventing the suspect from having contact with the victim in any way.
- An ex parte civil stalking injunction can be filed by the victim against an alleged stalker within the district court the victim resides in. The stalking injunction can prevent the stalker from getting near the victim as well as going to or near certain places such as the victim's home or place of work.
- A permanent civil stalking injunction is served to an individual who is convicted of stalking. The injunction is served at the time of conviction. The injunction protects the victim by restraining the offender from entering the residence, property, school or place of employment of the victim. The offender is required to stay away from the victim at all times.
