Public Works - Stormwater Division

The Stormwater is a division of the the Lindon Public Works Department. We operate and maintain the city’s storm drains year-round to prevent flooding and water pollution within the City. The City's storm drains system is made up of a series of coveyances (pipes, culverts, ditches, etc.) that collect and convey water away from potential flooding areas. This system is a separate stormwater collection and runoff system. It is not connected in any manner to the wastewater (sewer) collection system.

Stormwater is not filtered, cleaned or treated before it is released to our creeks, Utah Lake or to the aquifer, so it can be a pollutant if it is not kept clean. It is a Federal, State and Municipal offense to put anything other than normal storm runoff (with some limited exemptions) into a storm drain.
Report All Illegal Discharges

If you see anyone illegally dumping or discharging chemicals, oil, paint or other pollutants in gutters or storm drains, report it immediately!

To report illegal stormwater discharges (or other stormwater concerns such as storm water drain backups, dumping into the stormwater system, etc.) do the following:
  • If during normal operating hours (M-F, 7:00AM - 3:30PM) contact Lindon City Public Works Department, 801-796-7954.
  • After hours, contact the Lindon Police Department, 801-229-7070.
  • You may also send an email at any time to stormwater@lindoncity.org. (Please put "Storm Drain Discharge" in the subject line and provide as much information in the body of the email as possible regarding your concerns. Include pictures, if possible.)
Lindon City Stormwater Management Program

The State of Utah Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System Permit (MS4) required Lindon to implement an updated Storm Water Management Program (SWMP) by November 7, 2021. The State permit requires on-site retention of storm water through Low Impact Development (LID) practices among other requirements.
If you have a comment on  Lindon's SWMP document or implementation, please contact Paul Miller at stormwater@lindoncity.org or 801-796-7954.

Environmental Issues

You can help keep storm water clean by never dumping chemicals, oils or cleaning fluids down storm drains. Remember, if you can’t drink it — don’t dump it.

  • Do not litter
  • Keep our streets and water clean by putting trash in it’s place
  • Don’t leave pet waste on the ground. Dog and cat waste cause bacteria in our storm drains
  • Keep the storm gutters clean
  • Recycle used oil and antifreeze
